You probably ended up here because you scanned the QR code on a sign—and now you're wondering:

  • What's this all about?
  • We're all campers – why suddenly keep our distance?
  • Will camping now become impersonal?


Don't worry – that's not what this is about. Rather, we want to explain why keeping a certain distance is not only polite, but also sensible and safe in many situations.





How it all began

The impetus came from Jürgen Rode, operator of the well-known website womo.blog and active user of DigiCamper under the name Womo.blog.

The starting point was a discussion about so-called “cuddly campers” – campers who park right next to another vehicle even when there is plenty of space.

The idea of attaching a sign to the vehicle also came from the community – among others, from user Bobil. These suggestions were lively discussed and met with approval.


What this page is about

Many campers simply want more freedom, peace, and privacy – without stress or recriminations. We would like to provide information about this on this page.


And there are also practical reasons why a little distance is a good idea:


  • Fire safety: More space means less risk with open flames or gas cookers.
  • Emergency routes: In an emergency, access must remain clear for emergency services.
  • Safety distances: Especially with lithium batteries, solar panels, or gas – a little space in between can save lives.
  • Respect & relaxation: Distance is also a sign of mutual consideration – and creates relaxation for everyone.
